Dorothy Perkins AW14 Style Essentials: The Fur - Amy

Fur Coat c/o Dorothy Perkins, Blazer c/o Dorothy Perkins, Shorts c/o Dorothy Perkins, H&M Roll Neck Jersey, Dorothy Perkins Stripey Tee, Topshop Sunglasses, Primark Bag, Topshop Jolie Boots

As if our luck would have it, the second Style Essential we have been asked to style for the Dorothy Perkins AW14 campaign is The Fur. Where I see the shirt as a firm staple, the fur is definitely a statement that you need for the colder months. Whether it's stoles, cuffs or a full blown technicolour coat, there is something that just oozes glamour when it comes to fur (faux though, please)

The fur coat has been one of those pieces that I've always dreamt of having, but have never managed to find the right one at the right time so I cannot thank DP enough for finally uniting me with a piece I have had in my mind and on my wishlist for a good few years. The mink colour is the perfect alternative to your usual cream (for all the coffee spillers out there, like me) the fur is delicately soft and the length of the coat is precisely perfect - all in all, dream coat right here.

Now I'm in possession of this coat, it is killing me that the weather has done yet another dramatic U-turn and it's far too hot to wear! Only in England could you get away with an outfit containing a fur coat and shorts. I chose to wear the coat draped over a shorts suit for this particular post though as I wanted to show you how to add that touch of glam into what would be an 'every day/work wear' ensemble. We all know we can chuck a fur coat over a sexy frock and look wonderful, but why can't be look wonderful on the tube at 8am on a Monday morning too? With this coat being under £70, the answer is, we all can ;)

Dorothy Perkins AW14 Style Essentials: The Shirt - Naomi

Boohoo Clutch & Hat

We are super excited to have been asked to take part in the Dorothy Perkins Style Essentials campaign for the 2nd season! We took part in the SS14 style essentials and we are super excited to share our AW one with you all. We love a good style challenge and couldn't wait to style up our 2 style essentials which this season is 'The Shirt' and 'The Fur'. See the other blogger ladies style essentials HERE!

The first style essential is 'The Shirt' DP have such an amazing range of shirts for all occasions which you can shop HERE. I chose this perfect floral longline shirt which is easy to be dressed up or down and I can't wait to layer it under jumpers and coats for AW. With the weather still being so warm I teamed the shirt with a clashing floral blazer which I thought added a nice twist to the outfit and complimented the shirt well. I wanted a smart but young look still playing on my playful dress sense and print mixing. The black midi skirt was the perfect shape and length with the busy top half detail and finished it of with a little white belt and black clutch. The peep toe grey sandals were my godsend over LFW as they are so unbelievably comfortable and look great with any outfit.

I decided to finish of the look with my burgundy big hat and a matching lip for a nice transitional AW look which is good for any occasion. For a more dressed down look I would team the shirt and blazer with skinny jeans or swap the blazer for a biker jacket. A printed shirt is definitely one of my wardrobes staples that I can't live without and a key layering piece which can add interest and depth to your AW wardrobe.

What do you think of the way I styled my shirt up? Stay tuned for my style essential on Monday styling up 'The Fur'

Some of you may remember that we took part in Dorothy Perkins SS14 Style Essentials Campaign (here and here) and we are over the moon to announce that they have asked us back to do their AW14 Campaign too. I most definitely in team AW when it comes to styling, infact the one thing I can't stand in the summer is style, so I was excited to see what Style Essentials we'd be asked to play with.

Firstly, we were asked to style The Shirt - hallelujah, this is probably my signature 'piece' and most definitely a style essential to me, never mind Dorothy Perkins! I eat, sleep and breathe in shirts and have done since my college days, even with my ever changing wardobe, my shirt collection just grows and grows. Clean crisp white collars to a very scary amount of (ex)boyfriend check shirts, I've got it, and I loveee it.

So, it seems I love the shirt so much, I had to wear two. The best thing about shirts are their layering capabilites - under/over, top/bottom, or simply tied round the middle, they do just about everything. I chose to style two very contrasting shirts so layered a delicate cream blouse over a dark patterened button up so they could each stand out against the other. To make the shirt(s) the real focus in this outfit, I chose to go with a simple and staple pair of jeans, a sleeveless mac and black finishing touches.

Marios Schwab
LFW Talks Digital: Talk
Hakaan Yildirim

with Charlotte from The Goodowl

Sunday was definitely Funday this week! Naomi kicked off the moring at Marios Schwab but then we spent the rest of the day catching up with blogging friends and our favourite photographer Holly. We still can't believe how warm it was over the weekend and these outfits may not have been in the original plan but they defiinitely pin point our indivudual styles perfectly and that's exactly what fashion week is all about.

On Tuesday, Naomi headed back to Somerset House to wrap up the weekend with a LFW Talks Digital talk with an amazing panel including Henry Holland and the Hakaan Yildirim show (bumblebee sweatshirt the best thing everrr?) She also styled Charlotte from The Goodowl Blog in head to toe Beyond Retro featuring AW trends red and varsity! and that was it! Can't actually believe it's over for yet another season but we've both come back brimming with inspiration - here's to the next 6 months!

Our Favourite Blogger Ladies
With Emma Hill

Day 2 was a much quieter day for us and after the rushing around all day Friday we were glad for it! We were able to chill out and catch up with our favourite bloggers aswell as heading over to Fashion Scout to watch a few shows.

After a very colourful first day and with the weather being so up and down we went with our Urban Outfitters outfits for Day 2 as they were less layers incase of insane heat like Day 1! Naomi started the day by getting her hair styled at Blue Tit Dalston by Kamila which got the day of to a very good start! We continued our takeover for Lookbook.nu & Red Hot Sunglasses on Day 2 so got lots of snaps of street style and sunnies.

Naomi was lucky enough to head to the House Of Holland show later on in the day which was at Victoria House. The show was unbelievable with a 60s flower power vibe with glitter make up and just got out of bed hair - we want the whole collection! It also had a star studded FROW including Alexa Chung and Rita Ora to name but a few!

We hope you have been enjoying our LFW updates, stay tuned for Day 3's antics tomorrow!
