Out and About: Press Days SS16

Amy - Stripe Jumper c/o Boden, H&M Roll Neck Top, Topshop Leopard Print Skirt, Clarks Chinaberry Boots

Naomi - Beyond Retro Vintage Coat

Just as the days are getting even greyer, we are reminded that Spring will come around again soon by all the incredible press days around this time of year that are showcasing brighter and more colourful S/S wardrobes, and SS16 might be the brightest one yet!

Boden
We certainly enjoyed the ride into next season at Boden's incredible airline-themed press day which had everything from a carousel catwalk to a first class lounge! Suede, patterned shirts and stripes featured heavily across the product and bright bold primary's mixed in perfectly with the pastels.

Arcadia
We got to see all our favourite high street brands under one roof at the Arcadia press day this season and cannot wait for all this product to come out! Favourites by far were Miss Selfridge's endless collection of lace/crochet/floral folky dresses fit for any Bohemian Queen, they were simply gorgeous and keep your eyes peeled for Topshops ' Artists Impression' trend, a modern 60's offering with print and pattern galore

Out And About - Shoes: Pleasure And Pain

I think it's pretty obvious that we both love shoes - like, love shoes. And we think it's pretty evident from our Savage Beauty Post that we also love the V&A so you can imagine our sheer excitement when an email popped into our inbox inviting us to preview the new Shoes: Pleasure and Pain exhibition at our favourite museum!

Here's what we got to over the course of the day and more importantly, what footwear we chose for the occassion!

Amy Says: As I travelled up from Oxford for the day (toddler in tow), my first footwear choice needed to be super comfy for the car and what better than trust Converse? But going to a snazzy press preview all about fancy footwear meant my second Shoe Of The Day needed to be something a little more exciting than 'everyday'. Step in Orla blimmin' Kiely, my shoe hero of SS15 and her comfy (thanks Clarks) yet cool retro-vibe sandals. These beauts are so easy to walk in, it's no wonder they are my 3rd pair from the collection - it meant I could wander around the exhibition and even managed a walk up Brompton Road too.

Naomi Says: I was super excited to be able to go to the pre launch cocktail party which was so much fun! Accompanied by blogger Charlotte Goodayle we went and saw the amazing exhibition, took lot's of from where I stands and drank the most yummy gin cocktails! It was such a lovely launch, everyone was dressed so amazingly and the footwear was a show in itself. I wore my new Dazzle sandals from Clarks which got so many compliments on the night! I wore them with a glittery sock to match my flower power dress from ASOS. They were so comfy and a great party sandal! Thanks so much for the V&A for inviting us, definitely head down to check out the Please & Pain exhibition yourself, you can book tickets here!

You can see this amazing exhibition for yourself now until January and we seriously recommend it.. Stay tuned on our Instagram @twoshoesonepair for an exciting competition!

Out and About - Savage Beauty

The V&A, easily our fave London museum, are very much known for putting on spectacular exhibitions, so naturally we were pretty excited when it was announced that the fashion legend that is Lee Alexander McQueen would have his work showcased. Having missed out on online tickets, we waited for the initial rush to die down (oozing with jealousy over every single bod on our IG feed who went before us!) and finally got to see the exhibition about a month ago.. and wasn't it worth the wait!

If you're the slighest bit interested in fashion, this is definitely a must see. Delving into the mind of one of the greatest creators, seeing all those show stopping pieces up close seeing the process of how one became the other - it was fantastic. The exhibition is on until 2nd August so there's still chance to catch this breath-taking collection

Have you been to Savage Beauty? Tell us what you thought!

Out and About - Thea Porter

Last saturday I spent the day with Beyond Retro & a lovely group of bloggers and we headed to the Thea Porter 'Bohemian Chic' exhibition at the Fashion & Textile Museum. I have been wanting to go since seeing it in Timeout magazine a few months ago and it definitely did not disappoint!

I walked round in awe at the gorgeous shapes and detailing and reading all about Thea Porter & the start / evolution of 'Bohemian Chic'. I am obsessed with 70s and bohemian dressing so found it very interesting and inspiring and I will definitely remember details and pieces when I next go vintage shopping!

The exhibition is only on until May 3rd (in it's final week) so why not treat yourself and check it out this weekend over bank holiday, you can read more and book tickets here!

Leigh - Fox & Feathers, Eliza - Let's Dust, Sara Waiste , Sarah - Style Sixties, Charlotte - The Goodowl

All Items from Beyond Retro

I couldn't resist having a look around online for some bohemian 70s style dresses for you guys to shop right now to get the Thea Porter look for yourself, enjoy!

Monthly Must Haves (August) - Amy

August out, Autumn in - another summer over far too quickly but oh my godddd the high street are hitting us left, right and centre with the most amazing new season pieces. I apologise for the Topshop-heavy post but after going back to work for a day last week, I've come away with so much inspiration and a wishlist as long as my arm, this is just the tip of the iceberg. There are so many brands I just love but every AW (in particular), I'm reminded I'm a total toppers girl at heart:

Topshop Blanket Cape
if there is any piece you need to invest in this autumn, it's the blanket cape! even my mother turned up with one today. The perfect amount of snuggly chic for the chillier evenings

Whistles Stripe Voila Jumper
Oh Whistles, can I just have all of you please? I love this french slogan, stripy jumper so much

The White Pepper Bread Bag
How fun is this bag from The White Pepper? Add a playful twist to your wardrobe to brighten up your post holiday blues

Topshop Folk Print Coord (Top & Shorts)
Festival season might be almost over but festival styling doesn't have to finish. Update your folk prints with thick furs and layers galore.

Topshop Culottes
Cling onto the hope of wearing shorts a little bit longer by wearing er, shorts that are a little bit longer! Culottes are still huge and these boutique-y looking ones are the perfect autumn update.

Termite Eyewear Sunglasses
The most amazing sunglasses ever? Termite offer eco-friendly eyewear in a variety of wood finishes and lens tints so you can create your perfect pair.

Zara Pointed Boots
The slides have been packed away and the annual search for the perfect boot is over before it's even begun.

Topshop Shearling Coat
When it comes to tonal dressing, texture is key and this statement shearling coat is the ultimate piece.

Topshop Leopard Print Mini Skirt
All eyes on Cara? You can preview the new toppers collection online now - this leopard print pelmet skirt being my favourite item so far!

It doesn't matter how many seasons we get through, the speed in which time just vanishes between them never ceases to amaze me but even more so then when the press day invites are coming through - how could it possibly be that time again already?

We were very lucky to be invited to a few to get some sneak peaks of the amazing product that's on it's way to the high street and here's what we've got in store..

Boohoo
Across the aw14 catwalk and now filtering down to the masses, the trends aren't too far from what aw13 had to offer but if anyone has stepped these trends up a gear it's Boohoo. They have given last seasons faves that fresh lease of life that they totally deserve with incredible pastel fur bombers replacing the pale pink coat and sports luxe getting even more, well, luxe. Boohoo are a company we have watched get bigger and better every single season and this one is no exception - not only have they outdone themselves but they're out doing everyone else when it comes to affordable fashion too.

New Look
Magpie alert! Expect sparkle sparkle sparkles from New Look next season! The thing I love about New Look Press Days is being excited for product across the board - the clothing is always good but we were also excited by the wall of underwear sets and the large amounts of amazing accessories.

Coast
Definitely the most beautiful Press Day, it even smelt amazing! Having come from display-related backgrounds, we were in awe of the thought process behind the pyramid of coffee mugs, street style florist and of course the beautiful product that went with it! I am adoring the navy and lime colour palettes in the day way collection rich jewellery box colours in the occasion wear - perfect for dare I say it.. Christmas.

Littlewoods
When it comes to collabs, Littlewoods are killing it. At another beautifully presented Press Day by the guys at Lee Publicity, the Coleen and Mylene collections were fashionable and wearable which is perfect for their key demographic. Coords are still going strong, and luxe military seemed to be a key trend for these guys.

Marks and Spencer
I could not see past the coats - every single one was just beautiful and I need them all. M&S is another company that have seriously upped their fashion game and I genuinely love love love the direction they are going in bringing a higher end look to the high street. Incredible trophy sweats, the most amazing fur coat, pastel pink tailored suit and iridescent shirt combo and real 70's florals were amongst my faves but the coats.. (Also the kids bowler hat that looked like a kitty!)
