What's the best way to cheer up this dreary month? I know it's easy to want to hide away at home in old sweatshirts revelling in despair about tighter waist lines and suffering bank balances but injecting a little glitter into your January will leave you feeling goddam fabulous and this kimono is pretty much perfect for banishing both of those post-Christmas blues.

When the gorgeous people at Motel offered us a piece for the festive season, I was days away from giving birth so my usual go-to bodycon dress was a definite no-no, as I had no idea what state my tum would be in by the time I'd get around to wearing it so this incredible sequin kimono seemed the perfect option - all the show stopping glitz I needed for Christmas without being self conscious and if anything it was a distraction from what was underneath it! So if one too many cheese boards/mince pies/buckets of baileys were consumed, no one would ever know! Even better, this incredible piece is now half price over at Motelrocks.com

Velvet seemed perfect for mixing up the textures so this beautiful Topshop dress (also in the sale!) was an ideal match for an easily done, 'Wow' outfit. I finished off with a big rim hat and fur for a more sophisticated look.

We all know that pastel pink is set to be the colour of AW13 and this excites me! Rather than going into the colder season and expect to be covered in burgundy and black the pink makes a fresh change and rebels against the AW rules! 

'PVC skirts and fluffy jumpers are set to be every girls must have for AW' Which is fantastic news for you girly girls out there! PVC skirts are the new update for your standard pencil skirt and make your look instantly feel more sexy and more edgy. 

As soon as this hit down in Topshop last week I was head over heels for it and can't wait to wear it with a fluffy cropped jumper in winter. For now as it's still so warm and transitional, I went for a cropped Motel jersey which is very 50s inspired and looks great with the skirt! I went for white shoes and boots as I thought black looked to harsh with this girly look and for the ultimate jacket to throw on and go my denim vintage jacket which sits with the look perfectly. The sunglasses are from Ebay and are absolutely spot on for this look with the elongated cat eye shape they add drama and attitude to this look!

Just because you've hit your 20's, you don't have to act like it! On the other hand, just because 90's grunge is back in fashion, it doesn't mean you've got to revive items you own that need to be forgotten. In the fashion world everything is possible! So let's do grunge the grown up way!

Same as 'Smells Like Teen Spirit', let's start with some check. These absolutely incredible shorts are from Motel, circa 2006, when they had a little boutique in Oxford. I fell in love with them instantly, but somehow they were forgotten during the big move to London and I wasn't re-united with them until a few months ago and have been worn solidly ever since. The high waisted shape makes these a lot more grown up than your typical grungey ripped denim and is another way of playing with that tartan without a check shirt.

J W Anderson's collection are always for the bravest of fashionistas, not for the items themselves but how to style them as he intended. This cat tee is from is September 2012 collaboration with Topshop, around the time tartan started to make it's big come back. The tee shape feels quite masculine, yet the yellow colouring and kitten motif keep that playful feel to the outfit. To keep the outfit clean and grown up, I added the white collar (once again)

I finished off with Ray Ban shaped eye wear, which isn't as feminine as round frames but counteracted with a clutch rather than a backpack. My vintage denim jacket seemed the perfect grungey over layer and although I wish I'd worn a heeled boot, my Topshop Avengers work perfectly with the rest of the outfit to give that clean yet casual feel.

Can grunge ever be clean? Of course not! It's all about the dirt! But by the end of this shoot I'd been up for 30 hours, and it doesn't really get more rock and roll than that.
