If someone had told me a couple of years ago that my summer staple for 2014 would be a printed trouser there is absolutely no way I'd have believed them - I wouldn't even wear jeans until I got my first Toppers job so any other form of trouser was well out of the question. But as it turns out, I can't get enough of these babies as they're easy to chuck on with a tee and still look amazing and can pretty much work for every occasion.

The first pair that I needed to have so badly that I went against all that I thought I knew were these incredible paint splashed ones from Zara. Having fallen in love with my brush stroke blouse, I got that same excitement with the trousers AND the shift dress, but decided it was time to live dangerously and NOT go for the dress and I am so glad I did. The fact I got into and S also helped. I love brightening up my day by just wearing these out and about with a simple tee (like a breton stripe, surprise!) and love the fact this particlar outfit could be worn with a leather biker for day time, and simply swap it for a black blazer for night time.

I am definitely preferring the more tailored style of trouser but I couldn't resist the print on these - tiny little suits which is kinda quirky and cool - and having looked back at these photos I don't think the harem style look as horrendous as I thought they would on someone who's bottom half is definitely bigger than their top. These trousers are also a silky material which makes them a little more luxe than your usual harem style bottom so I still felt quite well dressed. For the ultimate smart/cas combo, I wore a thin knit and collar with these and slip ons skate shoes and then to girly it up a tad I went for the statement necklace.

Check back tomorrow to see how I'm styling another two pairs :)
