Trend Inspo: Outerwear AW15

Oh it's that time of year again! Despite how many coats are in our collections already, we can never resist investing in a new one (or five) each Autumn and with so much to chose from, how can we not?! This year it is all about the textures with spring summer's suede jackets getting an update, thick aviators attracting attention and fur collars on just about everything!

We have each picked our favourite five from the high street - which is yours?

Amy

Can you tell it's all about the cosy-ness for me this autumn winter? With thick faux furs leading the way! I love the subtle polka dot print on the H&M number and the Topshop Animal Print is remarking similar to that Shrimps coat with a much nicer price tag! Panelling is also a great way to update your outerwear - why wear one texture when you can have atleast two like this M&S coat and Topshop Harrington Jacket!

 Naomi

I love a statement coat as they brighten up those grey winter days! Faux fur in bright colours and prints catch my eye from H&M and ASOS. Aswell as patent shiny macs, tassel capes and jacquard weaves. I love mixing textures together for AW especially with big chunky knits and suede. After all it's the best time of year for lot's of lovely layering!

Dorothy Perkins Style Heroes AW15

Naomi Wears - Roll Neck c/o Dorothy Perkins, Suede Skirt c/o Dorothy Perkins, Asos Crochet Jumper, Asos Knee High Boots

Amy Wears - Roll Neck c/o Dorothy Perkins, Geometric Skirt c/o Dorothy Perkins, Asos Suede Jacket, Topshop Magnum Boots

The high street's new season pieces are flooding in in full force now and Dorothy Perkins AW15 collection is particularly on point! We were asked to create some outfits around 2 of their Style Heroes for the season and to our absolute joy we were given the roll neck and the aline skirt - 2 of our own personal style heroes!

We both went for a combination of tan suede and burgundy - the perfect autumnal colour palette with a retro vibe - but Amy decided to go for a print clash whilst Naomi a mix of layered textures!

Which of these looks do you prefer? Head over to the Dorothy Perkins Instagram at @official_dorothyperkins to vote for your favourite and if either of us win, we'll have a £150 to give away to one of our lucky readers!

The Cardigans - Amy

Topshop Suede Cardigan, Zara Stripe Dress, Marc Jacobs Sunglasses, Orla Kiely Betty Sandals

Honestly, I think this is the piece of SS15. Topshop have managed to combine all the key trends into one blinkin' amazing cardigan and create it in 2 colour-ways to suit every taste. Suede, crochet and fringing are all big this season to it's no wonder that together they create a mega statement.

I have to admit I love both of the colourways, but the brighter of the two (see Naomi style the Brown tomorrow!) is something truely special. I have been popping it over everything from a white tee and jeans to patterened tunics like this striped jersey. I love pulling a colour out to match up and in this outfit I decided to go for the red, getting in a lip and in the flower on my Bettys. It genuinely puts a smile on my face every time I pop it on, I just adore it!

How would you style the crochet cardigan?

LBD - Amy

Suede Fringed Dress c/o Pretty Little Thing, H&M Sleeveless Cardi, Topshop Jamie Rip Knee Jeans, Ray Ban Sunglasses, Gladiator Sandals c/o Pretty Little Thing

Every girl needs the perfect Little Black Dress. It doesn't matter who you are, black is always flattering and there is no better than feeling than finding an LBD that could have been made for you. This little suedette number from PLT has got Summer 2015 written all over it and with fringe detail it's just as fun on it's own as it is to layer up!

Seeing as my nights out on the town are long gone, I have to fit my LBD into more every day occassions so have opted for a smart/casj feel for this look! Layering a little black dress over jeans is the perfect way to do this, and keeping it all black keeps it slick and simple (even if I added a little pop of grey for interest too!) These heels are fab-u-lous and great for the those summer trips to the pub or even just a coffee date with friends, why not dress up!

What's your perfect LBD? and how are you wearing it this summer?

Artificial Flowers - Amy

Vintage Suede Jacket, Topshop Boutique Silk Floral Dress, Cos Mock Shirt, Marc Jacobs Sunglasses, Florian Red Leather Bag, Topshop Magnum Boots

It's not very often we bag a complete bargain, but when the absolutely beautiful Topshop Boutique Fable Print pieces went into the sale, we couldn't resist snapping them up! I am a massive fan of boutique when it comes to a little indulgent shopping and this floral collection has been one of my favourite's in a long while with it's current yet timeless feel.

I went for a signature look, with the t-shirt dress and collar combo, but layered my suede jacket over it for a real SS15 look (it helps that it goes with absolutely everything!)

Do you love Topshop Boutique as much as we do? Let us know if you find any bargains as good as ours!

All White Now - Amy

Vintage Suede Jacket, Topshop Crochet Jumper, Lauren Pope White Pussy Bow Dress c/o In The Style, Primark Bag, Daniel Footwear Boots

Freshly inspired by all of the whites at Coachella, we couldn't resist a little go ourselves, especially as this seemed like the perfect opportunity to style up the new In The Style X Lauren Pope collection. I decided to go super 70's with this incredible pussy bow dress as my base piece. Just on it's own, this dress is a show stopper and looks just as beautiful with a a pair of heels and statement clutch as it does toned down for a festival.

I decided to layer up for this look with a cropped crochet jumper for that all important boho feel. I love the mix of textures, especially with the tonal outfit, and adoreeee the huge bow detail. I had to finish off with THE must have item of SS15 - the suede jacket. Having looked for one for a while, the perfect one for me caught me by (a very nice) surprise a couple of weeks ago and I know it's going to become a wardrobe staple.
